Shipping & Receiving Specialist - 1st Shift

Summary/Objective:

Operating in a fast-paced custom manufacturing facility, the Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for inbound and outbound shipment activities.  Distribute inventory and fill orders for internal and external Customer requirements.  Familiar with manufacturing environment needs based on previous experience.  Maintain policies and procedures related with data entry, filing, emailing or faxing.  Performs a variety of tasks and is flexible to ongoing changes to help improve the flow of information and inventory.

Essential Functions:

  1. Run and analyze shipment planning report
  2. Prepare product for Shipping
  3. Preparation of domestic and international documentation for outgoing shipments.
  4. Working with freight carriers to keep shipping costs within budget. They choose carriers available to us based on cost, reliability, and transit time.
  5. Ship products to customers/load outbound trucks
  6. Process “cut” orders-
  7. Assist in scheduling and preparing 3rd party freight pick-ups.
  8. Perform receiving duties/unload inbound trucks-completed daily 6-8 hours
    • Verifying product to pack lists
    • Receiving product in the ERP system
    • Physically moving product where it needs to go
    • Scheduling inbound trucks
    • Transfer product from QC to warehouse when released/cleared
    • Moved finished product to warehouse​​​​​​​
  9. ​​​​​​​Maintain and organize warehouse
  10. Work with other departments across the organization.
  11. All other duties assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: 

None

Work Environment:

Climate controlled warehouse environment with cement floors.  Loading and unloading of trucks may be in a cold or hot environment. Extended hours outside of typical 8am to 5pm may be needed to meet shipping requirements.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Lifting up to 50 lbs. in addition to physical demand of being on your feet for an extended period of time.  While performing the duties of this position, the TEAM Member is frequently required to talk or listen to fellow TEAM Members.

Expected Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday with an estimated total of 40 hours per week.  Schedule may fluctuate based on business needs with the potential of overtime.

Travel:

There may be required for this position.

Relocation:

No relocation is expected for this position.

Required Education:

High school education or higher preferred. Forklift certification required.

Preferred Experience:

2-3 years’ shipping/logistics experience in a manufacturing environment

1-2 years’ experience in completing customs paperwork (NAFTA, etc.)

FedEx, UPS, and CH Robinson International Shipping experience required

Hazardous Material Handling Training
