Assembly and Retractile - 1st Shift
Summary/Objective:
You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and attention to detail to succeed in the fast-paced and rapidly changing custom manufacturing environment at Northwire. Produce quality customized Assemblies and Retractiles according to customer specification, while operating all workstations within the cell. The assembler and retractile positions shall perform daily production while having a commitment to safety, quality, performance, and delivery standards.
Essential Functions:
- Print and follow setups and procedures for assemblies and retractiles
- Perform all processes of making retractile cords (e.g. wind, demandreling, oven, dewinding, trim and package)
- With the aid of equipment, manipulate and transfer reel of material weighing upwards of 200 pounds
- Maintain electronic labor entries of work orders
- Monitor production schedules, interpret, and follow the schedule per provided documentation
- Perform all processes of making assemblies ( e.g. cable prep, wiring harnesses, cut to length hanked up jobs, and assemble connectors per job specification)
- Solder assemblies and/or connectors
- Perform injection molding
- Interpret CAD drawings
- Perform quality measures and testing as required to ensure conformance to job specifications
- Submit/discuss maintenance orders as needed to maintain safe and efficient equipment
- All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing facility: Walking surfaces are cement flooring with anti-fatigue matting in locations around equipment. Air-conditioned facility with a controlled air flow environment. PPE: safety glasses and steel-toed shoes required.
Physical Demands:
Stand and walk for 8 hours per shift. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis. Must have the ability to do repetitive hand work with frequent handling, using fingers to feel, and wrists to twist and turn. Ability and agility to work with both hands.
Expected Hours of Work:
Hours of work is an 8-hour shift with the opportunity to work overtime.
Travel:
Travel may be expected for this position.
Relocation:
No relocation is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience.
Manufacturing experience preferred. Mechanical aptitude is preferred (e.g. being able to work with power tools). Experience with manufacturing equipment is preferred.
