2016 to 2017

December 29th, 2016 - At the end of each year, Northwire’s TEAM walks back through the last 12 months to acknowledge hard work, partnerships, innovation, and continued improvement of its products and services. Revisiting these highlights gives NWI the chance to show appreciation and build motivation for the coming year.

Join Northwire as the cable manufacturer celebrates 2016 achievements such as:

Valued LEMO Partnership

LEMO celebrated its 70th anniversary of cable connector leadership this year. To mark the manufacturing companies’ second year of close partnership and to promote continued synergy among TEAM members, Northwire welcomed its colleagues from LEMO for a week of connectivity training at the cable manufacturer’s Osceola campus. Additionally, the two cable and connector experts saw their European Distribution Center grow and start serving customers with fast, efficient products and services.

Industry Recognition

This year, NWI wire and cable professionals wrote or were featured in publications such as CONNECTEDand Connector+Cable Assembly Supplier Magazine. LEMO and Northwire Subject Matter Experts spoke and presented at tradeshows and events such as the Lean Innovation Forum. Additionally, LEMO received 5 prizes in recognition of product development, making Northwire a proud LEMO Group Company.

New Capabilities

LEMO and Northwire were pleased to introduce an extended product line of fiber HD audio/video hybrid cable solutions this year. Specially designed to meet or exceed SMPTE 311 and ARIB standards, these new cable systems feature excellent resistance to cut, crush, and abrasion. The three newest NWI products include a solution featuring a durable steel strength HD cable assembly, a custom cable bolstered with aramid fiber, and the Flex-lite 6.8mm Steadicam™ HD Cable, a powerful lightweight cable.

Northwire also expanded its custom medical cable product line with the addition of BioCompatic II, a USP Class VI silicone alternative solution. This second generation offers a lower durometer, meeting customer requests for increased flexibility and a softer feel.

Expanded Resources

Following close on the heels of the Oil + Gas Connection Solutions White Paper, which debuted at the turn of the New Year, Northwire also expanded its technical wire resources with a new publication – Extreme Materials: Robust Performance from Cable to Connector. This white paper covers in depth options and methodology for the types of wire components chosen at every level of cable manufacturing, from the core copper strands to specialized jackets.

Success in Internal Initiatives and Community Outreach

As always, Northwire gives credit for its success largely to its TEAM of exceptional cable experts. This year, the cable manufacturer supported its TEAM with internal initiatives such as “Wired for Wellness” and a series of fundraising events. Health was the focus of 2016, and achievements included a newly furnished breakroom with healthy snacks, competitions that encouraged healthy living, and a big win with company-sponsored health insurance. The NWI TEAM also participated in Community events such as the Salvation Army’s BackPack Program for local school districts, contributed to cancer awareness campaigns, hosted engineering student groups, spoke at MADD events, and much more.

Ready for an exciting New Year? LEMO and Northwire can’t wait to see what connections they will make with their valued customers and strategic partners in 2017.Join the NWI TEAM in sending off a great past year and stepping into the new one with fresh challenges, unique projects, and excellent wire and cable.
