Description: The Design Engineer position is responsible for accurately completing design and quotation activity for defined opportunities and RFQs submitted by customers. This position will take direction from the Director of Engineering and work with customers to obtain necessary customer requirements and translate requirements into design solutions. This position will work with internal personnel to release products to the production environment. Design Engineer’s will work closely with Document Control and Process Engineers to support seamless integration of new products and/or engineering changes.

Essential Functions:

1.) Complete quote activities for defined opportunities.

2.) Provide quote / no quote inputs and recommendations for defined customers and opportunities.

3.) Develop quote packages to incorporate potential engineering costs and capital expenditures.

4.) Quote engineering changes proposed by customers.

5.) Manage integration of new part numbers to the organization.

6.) Complete wire, cable or assembly design activity on new and existing opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have no direct reports but will supply input to Application Engineers and the Director of Engineering.

Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday with an estimated total of 45 hours per week. Schedule may fluctuate based on business needs.

Travel: Travel up to 20% is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

1.) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3-6 years or experience in product design or 10 years’ experience in product design.

2.) 3-6 years’ experience in product costing / pricing activities.

Preferred Education and Experience:

1.) At least 3 years of experience in design utilizing 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or ProE.

2.) 3-6 years’ experience in a Customer Facing position

Additional Eligibility Qualifications or Certifications:

1.) Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification, preferred

2.) Design for Manufacturability
