The Application Engineer position is responsible to work closely with customers to understand their requirements, and successfully provide designs (technical proposals) and quotes (commercial proposals) to fulfill those needs. Application Engineers will transition products to Product Engineers following completion of quotation, design and customer purchase order receipt.

Essential Functions:

*Complete specification gathering with customers on defined opportunities.
*Analyze market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by frequent visits to customers and prospects.
*Collaborate with the R&D, process and manufacturing teams in order to ensure that the requirements and expectations of the customers are well understood and communicated to all areas of the company.
*Coordinate engineering changes requested internally or by the customer.
*Support problem resolution for customer identified concerns.
*Develop quote packages to incorporate potential engineering costs and capital expenditures.
*Quote engineering changes proposed by customers.
*Complete wire, cable or assembly design activity (level A and B) on new and existing opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Expected Hours of Work:
Hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and may vary based on business needs.

Travel:
Travel up to 40% is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3 years’ experience in a product design, or equivalent education and experience.

*Experience in product costing / pricing activities.
*Experience in a customer facing position.
*Experience with highly technical sales.
*Prior experience within an international group.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience in design utilizing 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or ProE.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications or Certifications:
*Project Management Institute Certification(PMI), preferred
*Design for Manufacturability
