Machine Vision Cable Surpasses 10 Million Cycle Mark

Northwire’s GEV-1000 Cable for GiGE Machine Vision applications has recently passed 10 million cycles on Northwire’s flex tester. The test is a tick-tock bending test under tension load. This test is still underway and will end when the cable eventually fails, or we need the test station for other testing, whichever comes first.

This cable is industry’s first and only cable made specifically for machine vision applications to have surpassed so many flex cycles in a single test. Other machine vision cables, along with other types of industrial technical cables are also under test. Two other such cables are Northwire’s Camera Link® cable and our MVC-800 cable which is constructed for industrial IEEE 1394b machine vision and other FireWire applications. The FireWire cable is undergoing flex testing and is currently at over 3 million cycles and going strong. The Camera-Link cable has gone over 7 million.
