Northwire CoilBoss™ Retractile Cable Helps Super|Circuit’s Customer

In October 2008, the research company National Data and Surveying Services (NDS) approached Supercircuits, a leading video and audio surveillance equipment manufacturer, to help develop a solution for a traffic counting study. NDS asked Supercircuits to produce a highly specialized portable camera/DVR system which would be mounted on a telescopic pole. The camera would be mounted at the top of the pole, the recorder at the bottom. Additionally, NDS needed specific feature sets and battery run times on the DVR.

In the process of designing the specialized system, Supercircuits contacted Northwire to design a custom CoilBoss™ Retractile video and power cord that would be contained inside the pole and connect the camera to the recording unit.

“Northwire was fantastic in working with us on our technical needs,” said Scott Bradford, Technical Sales Representative with Supercircuits. “They really facilitated the process by producing samples and making changes to the technical design as needed.”

The collaboration produced a fully functional traffic counting system, designed and manufactured to order for NDS. At present there are 20 of these systems working out in the field today. (An image of the device is shown to the right).
