Don't Throw Money Down the Conduit
Take advantage of recent changes to NFPA 79-2002, allowing exposed runs of electrical power cable. The new code allows Tray Cable (TC) with UL 1277 Exposed-Run rating exiting a cable tray has no code defined distance limit between the cable tray and the equipment. The code still allows metal clad cable, but Northwire EnduroFLEX ERP, meeting the specific crush and impact tests required by UL 1277, is far easier and less expensive to install than metal clad cable or wire in conduit.
Dual Rating
Since EnduroFLEX ERP cable is also listed UL STOOW, the cable may also be used as portable cordage as allowed by NEC. The cable is suited for outdoor use and meets oil resistance I and II standards. Connectors may be applied, and the cabling may be used in power trunk/drop confugurations as allowed by the NEC. Refer to NFPA 79-2002 section 240 for specific requirements.
