Ormund Kravik, co-owner of a small cord set manufacturer, received frequent requests from appliance manufacturers for small quantities of custom-color assemblies.  These small custom orders were typically needed for new and discontinued appliances.  To fulfill this requirement, the company searched for a high-quality manufacturer that would supply small volume custom-configured cable. This proved challenging because the cable manufactures preferred large or off-the-shelf cable orders. As a result of this unmet demand, Ormund Kravik started Northwire, Inc. in 1972.
   
Northwire continues to advance its processes, equipment and prototyping services to provide custom-configured cable that meets the changing needs of many industries worldwide.  Made-to-order and private-label options include: paired, non-paired, triads, various shielding and grounding options, special insulation options, a variety of conductor and jacket materials and colors. Northwire provides short production times, no minimum orders and fast shipment—same-day for stock cable and 5- to 15-days for made-to-order cables.

Utilizing enhanced materials, manufacturing methods and testing protocols, Northwire has improved the high-flex-life performance of FireWire, Analog Video, GigE Vision™, Camera Link® and other cables.  As a result, Northwire products provide extremely high reliability.  All Northwire vision cables have exceeded 10 million test cycles in rugged conditions. Constructed using this superior cable, Northwire began manufacturing and selling vision cable assemblies in the spring of 2008.

Today, many cable producers are manufacturing products offshore.  Consequently, the need for high-quality, no-minimum, custom-configured cables and assemblies has grown.

Northwire is a third generation privately held family company. Chairman of the Board, Mark Kravik and his daughter, CEO/Owner, Katina Kravik have integrated Lean manufacturing, innovative employee teamwork and customer satisfaction feedback systems into the company philosophy.

Our new 130,000 square foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility delivers quality product with maximum efficiency while allowing for future expansion.

Our product offerings for the medical and specialty industrial markets include UL / CSA approved and custom-designed cables in PVC, polyurethane, fluoropolymers, TPEs, and proprietary blends in a variety of strandings ranging from 6 - 32 gauge multi-conductor configurations braided and foil shields, armored cable, coaxial cable, and other custom composite constructions. Manufacturing Facility in Santa Teresa, New Mexico

Our Santa Teresa, New Mexico facility is strategically situated next to one of Northwire's copper suppliers and geographically close to many of our customers located in Mexico and the Southwest.  This facility allows us to meet our customer’s demands for custom cable products delivered quickly.  Locating a manufacturing plant closer to a primary supplier and our growing customer base – allows us to serve a variety of industries locally while offering reduced shipping costs for raw and finished materials with reduced lead times for product.

Northwire Suzhou Co., Ltd.

Northwire, Inc. has relocated and expanded its Asian operations.  The new facility, located in Jiangsu Province, China, includes a 5,300-square foot (492 square meters) warehouse and 3,400-square foot (316 square meters) office.
 
Demand for Northwire products has increased significantly around the world, and we’ve expanded in response.
The previous Asian operation, located in Shanghai, China, did not include a warehouse — it was simply a sales office.  With a warehouse in China, Northwire will be able to expedite shipping to customers and distributors throughout Asia.

The new Asian facility will stock a wide range of bulk cable products for distribution to customers in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.  In addition to expanding its facilities in Asia, Northwire has increased its sales force there.
